The professional couples counselors and therapists at our offices in Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville are here to help you and your partner learn to be a team again.

Restoring Your Relationship Through Couples Counseling

Let us help you improve upon your communication and restore balance in your relationship…

When communication breaks down, it’s easy to feel unsupported and stuck in a cycle of conflict. It can feel like you’re fighting against each other instead of working together to solve the issues you face.

If you’ve tried to address your concerns but can’t find resolutions that satisfy both of you, couples therapy or marriage counseling can help. Working alongside your therapist, you’ll develop new skills, create healthier patterns, and reconnect to rebuild a stronger, more fulfilling relationship.

What to Expect From Couples Therapy

After matching with a counselor, you will have an initial meeting to get to know your counselor more. In that initial consultation, your counselor will ask questions to understand the history of your relationship, identify what patterns or behaviors you may find yourselves stuck in, and determine your shared long term goals.

Your therapist may or may not choose to hold one or two individual sessions with you both to understand your unique perspectives and concerns. From there, you will work together to create a customized care plan.

Our approach is designed to offer the support you need from the very beginning. Because relationship dynamics can be complex and deeply rooted, we typically meet weekly or biweekly for the first 10-12 sessions to build trust, establish a strong foundation, and maintain consistent progress.

While the goal is for you and your partner to start feeling a deeper sense of connection and relief as quickly as possible, progress takes time and varies from couple to couple. Consistency and dedication to making change are key to making sustainable progress.

Common focus areas for couples counseling sessions may include:

  • Learning how to foster healthy, open communication in your day-to-day lives
  • Developing skills to manage conflict, avoiding escalation or withdrawal
  • Building emotional regulation techniques
  • Exploring each other's unique sexual experiences and expectations
  • Removing obstacles to emotional and physical intimacy
